Future Pulse Empowering Youth Voices

I had the incredible opportunity to recruit and lead Future Pulse's youth group of volunteers. Future Pulse was a three-year partnership between Bright Ideas Nottingham and the Carers’ Federation. Their mission was clear: to enhance access to health and well-being services for children and young people under 25 in Nottingham. What transpired over those three years was nothing short of remarkable.

"Inclusive Ingenuity: Children and Youth Lead the Way in 'Future Pulse' Project Design"

The involvement of children and young people from the outset was pivotal. At the 'Design a Project' event, their creativity soared as they not only shaped the project but also christened it 'Future Pulse' and designed a distinctive logo, a symbol of our collective vision.

The young people further showcased their insights by developing a short sketch, performed at the conference, providing a dynamic and engaging presentation of their findings.

"Catalyzing Change: The Impactful Role of Future Pulse's Mystery Shopper and Media Teams in Enhancing Child/Youth-Friendly Services"

The heart of Future Pulse lay in the formation of the Mystery Shopper Team and the Media Team. The Mystery Shoppers, after thorough training, visited health and wellbeing services to evaluate their child/young person-friendliness. The subsequent reports, presented to the services, catalysed positive change and provided crucial evidence for those striving towards national quality standards.

"Radiant Voices: Empowering Youth through Expertly Trained Media Team's Creation of Captivating Radio Programs, Ads, and Vox Pops."

The Media Team, armed with training from an experienced radio presenter/journalist, gathered insights from their peers and created compelling radio programs, adverts, and vox-pops—a testament to the power of youth-driven media.

"Empowering Youth: From Recruits to Researchers and Advocates"

My role in recruiting and managing a dynamic group of 15 children and young people was a true highlight. They transformed into community researchers and mystery shoppers, not just gaining valuable skills but also showcasing their talents at conferences and round table discussions.

Empowering Youth Through Skill-Building, Creativity, and Community Collaboration for Positive Change"

Future Pulse was more than a project; it was a journey of empowerment, skill-building, and community collaboration. The dedication to fostering creativity, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose among young people was at the core of our success. The impact was not just on health services but on the lives of those involved—proof that when youth voices are heard and empowered, positive change becomes inevitable.

"Elevating Youth Voices: 'Feel Good Nottingham' Takes Over 97.5 Kemet FM with Young People Leading in Ad Creation and Live Radio Participation."

Our outreach extended to the airwaves with the 'Feel Good Nottingham' Take Over Show at 97.5 Kemet FM, where young people not only created compelling adverts but actively participated in a live radio program, amplifying their voices and perspectives.

"National Recognition: Addressing NHS England."

National recognition followed, with some participants invited to address an NHS England event with Simon Stevens - Chief Executive NHS England.
..and our final celebration event, graced by Kath Evans from NHS England and the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, marked the culmination of our collective efforts.
